The character’s heart is racing, their breath coming in short gasps as they stumble over tree roots and fallen branches in their desperate attempt to escape. The sound of snapping twigs and rustling leaves grows closer and the character knows they must keep moving or risk being caught. Just when it seems like all hope is lost, a sliver of moonlight breaks through the thick canopy, illuminating a path to safety.
